MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Last Sunday we were blessed with the beautiful voices of the WATOTO children choir. These children are either orphans or from broken families, struggling to survive in one of the world's poorest countries. Many left with the scars of their past.

Today they are travelling from country to country, bringing a message of hope and blessing others with their amazing testimonies of God's goodness with a smile on their faces.

All it takes was for someone to say, “I care enough to make a difference in this world."

Are we actively living out our faith?

Let us too start to make a change in someone else's life.

NG3 are collectively sponsoring Reema, a child in India through compassion for the last 1 year. We again collecting funds this year for the sponsorship and would gladly welcome those who would like to be part of this great cause.

More information this Friday in LG.

Across the two services, we were packed with visitors and people who were touched by God's grace and His work through WATOTO ministry. We have raised over $8000 which will go towards the ministry and support the children in Uganda. So thank you for your generosity and contributions!

WHY SPONSOR A CHILD?

Jesus has a heart for children – so should we

Throughout the Bible, there are many references to children and their significance in society. Jesus Himself was the perfect example of child development: “And the child grew and became strong; He was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon Him.” Luke 2:40. These words should guide us when addressing the needs of children.

Jesus frequently talked about children and their importance in the Kingdom: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:14 (NIV). Therefore, as children are strategic in building the kingdom of heaven, it is vital that they are nurtured and valued in their formative years.

Since 1952, the core of Compassion International’s ministry has been to introduce children to Jesus Christ – to provide them with hope. We believe that when Jesus said, “Let the little children come unto me …”, he knew that all we have to do is make a way. Children will naturally come to Jesus if we do not hinder them.

Children are the leaders of tomorrow … and today

It is during childhood that the most significant life changes can be made and positive patterns developed. Therefore, it is crucial that children receive the necessary care, nurture and training while they are still young. Children, like ‘wet cement’, can be shaped and moulded in these early years. As they grow, they ‘solidify’ to become all that God intended them to be. Through introducing children to Jesus at an early age, they can play a vital role in promoting change within their families and communities. King David became a mighty leader, but was still a boy when God used him to save his nation.

Children are usually the major victims of poverty

Unfortunately it is always the children who are the hardest hit by the effects of extreme poverty, exploitation and abuse – yet they are the least able and have the fewest resources available to change their circumstances. Of the 2.2 billion children in our world today, nearly half are living in desperate conditions.* Compassion believes that one of the most effective ways to address poverty in a community is to begin by impacting and changing the lives of its children.

Compassion recognises that it is not enough to care for the spiritual needs of children without addressing all other aspects of their lives. That’s why Compassion’s holistic child development programs provide for the spiritual, economic, social, physical and emotional needs of children living in poverty.

MAKE A LEGACY - CHILD SPONSORSHIP

What kind of life do you want to live? One that glorifies yourself or one that glorifies God? One that is blessed or one that blesses?
Last Friday, Joel shared about an alert to drive on the road safely that he received from his dad's church friend whom had a dream about Joel who had a car accident. It strikes him to realise that life is indeed vulnerable and what has he done in life to leave a legacy. One thing he can do is to be the one to bless others - even with the little that he has - when he does it by faith, God will multiply!
Since August last year, NG 3 took the initiative to sponsor a child in India via Compassion Australia. We started off with 7 people who pledged to sponsor the kid in a sharing effort.
This year, we invite you to take up this challenge together with us in blessing the kid with a longer security of funds for her future.

When we serve the poor, the focus shifts from self to selfless. It is only then that the resemblance of Christ can be seen in our reflection.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

[source]

As we hit the end of another financial year, it's a great time to stop and think about the things that we have been done to help eradicate poverty in the past financial year, such as, Reema - our NG 3 sponsored child.
We thank God for our ability to bless Reema and thank you for your faithful support!
As another financial year comes by, let's take this time to pray and consider how you can continue to support this child of God, Reema, or be a part of God's plan in ending the poverty of a child through the little that you can give.
