REEMA
OUR COMPASSION CHILD

This year we continue to support Reema, our little girl from India. We hope to support her till she's old enough to work and support herself which is when she's 16-17. She can then contribute back to her community. She'll be this 11 this year. She wrote recently and said:
" I go to a Christian school and am given Moral Education, Bible Stories and also a nice lunch. I'll be having her 1st semester exam soon. Please pray for me.We celebrated Independance Day at school recently and flag was raised by our school director Ps Kashy...."
This time we have 8 people who will join in to support Reema for another year. We thank all these ones as we know this money will make a difference in Reema's life.

if any of you want to join us or even form your won group to support another child, please speak to Joel for more details.

WE NEED YOU IF YOU CARE!

'Yes We Care is an initiative of the BrizNet group of churches with the purpose of demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ in a practical way to the people of Brisbane
To facilitate this, Brisbane's Biggest Neighbourhood Blitz is held annually in May or June. It is a day when the church (one church, many locations) in the Greater Brisbane region, in cooperation with the Brisbane City Council and other authorities, put organised teams into homes of needy people.'
(exerpt from www.yeswecare.org.au)

Our church Hope Brisbane will be participating in YES! WE CARE this year!

We NG3 are getting into this event to bless the community too. Joel Sim is the champion for this event. And we're looking for as many of you as we can to join together to bless the less fortunate people in Brisbane.

Date: 29th May 2010 (Saturday)
Time: 8:00am -12:00pm, followed by a BBQ

We need to finalise the number of participants on this Friday!

Please express your interest to Joel prior to 14th of May (this Friday) either through email, phone or in person.

WATOTO ORPHANAGE FUNDRAISING EVENT
-ALICE IN WONDERLAND-

Last Saturday some of us were able to attend the fundraising event organized by Tina Wong to raise funds for the Watoto Orphanage to help children in Uganda. Some of us met up just before the movie for dinner at Grill'ed. While some others we didn't get to see till the end of the movie such as Cathy & Gary, Daniel and Yee Yee.

It was a movie event where we went to watch Alice in Wonderland, where a whole cinema was booked just for us. So it was fun! Some people came dressed up as the characters in the movie-so there was the White Queen, Alice, a few white rabbits and also a Tweedle Dee. It was a huge turnout at the event and they sold out almost all of the 300 seats. They raised a total of $3001 for the orphanage!

If you missed out this year, they'll have it on again next year with another exciting blockbuster. So look out, as it a fun way to give something back to the community.

From Walt Disney Pictures and visionary director Tim Burton comes an epic 3D fantasy adventure: ALICE IN WONDERLAND, a magical and imaginative twist on some of the most beloved stories of all time.Check out the movie trailer: http://www.disney.com.au/disneyfilms/aliceinwonderland/
What's more, while you're going through the looking glass in 3D, you'll be helping to raise funds for orphan children in Uganda!Watoto has been helping to rescue hundreds of thousands of orphan children by building villages where children are placed into loving homes with a house mother. Within the village, they receive nourishment, education, medical care, and the love and support of a family.I went to Uganda in 2009 to build one of these houses. The difference that Watoto is making is phenomenal! Lives are being restored, children have hope again, and future leaders of Uganda are being raised. Our goal is to raise $38,000 so we can build another house in 2012 for the precious children of Uganda.Be inspired by the Watoto story at www.watoto.com
4 reasons why you should watch Alice in Wonderland with us:
1)We will be watching it 3D! Movie experts strongly recommend this since director Tim Burton intentionally created his movie to be experienced in 3D.
2) Tickets will be cheaper through me!Concession: $12 (usually $15 + $1 for glasses at the box office)Adult: $15 (usually $18 + $1 for glasses)AND your 3D glasses will be provided FREE!
3) We have a whole 300 seat cinema all to ourselves!
4) Most importantly, ALL proceeds will go towards Watoto.
Tickets will be on sale from Saturday 6th March onwards until sold out.

HAITI NEEDS YOUR HELP

REUTERS/Eduardo Munoz, courtesy of alertnet.org
The recent earthquake in Haiti has devastated children and families in the Western Hemisphere's poorest nation. The magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck just ten miles from the heart of Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital, where people are left to search through rubble in hopes of finding loved ones. At least 3 million people have been affected by these disasters.
As a church it is our heart's desire to arise as God's hands and feet in such a time as this, and so we had a donation request during last Sunday service.
If you have missed out in donating, this SUNDAY there will be a LAST collecting donations at service to help support the relief efforts for those affected by the disaster. All the donations received from the church members will be sent forth to the World Vision whom has worked in Haiti for over 30 years and has 800 staff in the country. They are currently on the ground responding to the crisis. They have been distributing prepositioned emergency survival kits — including food, water, blankets and tents — to affected children and families.
http://www.worldvision.org/news.nsf/news/haiti-earthquake-201001-enews?Open&lpos=lft_txt_haitiearthquake
Alternatively, you can donate online now to send emergency aid to the people of Haiti!
Let's continue to keep the situation in prayer, and lets also prepare ourselves to give generously in reflection of God's love to those who desperately need it right now.
You can help meet the life-or-death needs of the children and families affected by this terrible disaster!

Ps 65:5-7
5 You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas,
6 who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength,
7 who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations

C4K Sign Up
source

Praise God for the many who signed up for C4K this year at the last NG3 LG. This will make it a great outing time for NG3, where we can all grow in our heart to bless our community.
Let's be reminded again what Jesus said in Matthew 22 and Isaiah in Isaiah 49:

"37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[a] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[b] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.“ Matt 22:37-40

"13Heavens, raise the roof! Earth, wake the dead!
Mountains, send up cheers!
God has comforted his people.
He has tenderly nursed his beaten-up, beaten-down people" Isaiah 49:13

For those that may have missed out at LG, please let Jojo or Grace know if you're interested and we'll see if the C4K committee can do with more help.

Compassion
Hi all,

Praise the Lord for moving hearts to help the poor. Some of your brothers and sisters in Christ has decided to be part of the solution in sponsoring a child through Compassion. We're answering God's call in Psalms 82 to "defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; to maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed, to rescue the weak and needy and deliver them from the hand of the wicked." Again God reminds us in Isaiah 58:6-9 (MSG):-

6-9"This is the kind of fast day I'm after:
to break the chains of injustice,
get rid of exploitation in the workplace,
free the oppressed,
cancel debts.
What I'm interested in seeing you do is:
sharing your food with the hungry,
inviting the homeless poor into your homes,
putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad,
being available to your own families.
Do this and the lights will turn on,
and your lives will turn around at once.
Your righteousness will pave your way.
The God of glory will secure your passage.
Then when you pray, God will answer.
You'll call out for help and I'll say, 'Here I am.'
